THE CALL OF THE LAND (EMBULLARSE)

Audiovisual installation, 3m x 3m wooden cube, 3 video channels, 5 audio tracks, 2020.

 

This project has been carried out during the Artistic Practices Residency curated by Azkuna Zentroa (Bilbao) and Artista x Artista (Havana). Subsequently, it has been exhibited as part of the exhibition From childhood to old age and vice versa, in dialogue with the work of the Cuban artist Alina Águila.

 

This work is the result of gathering different materials generated during the development of an audiovisual observatory of the contemporary Cuban domestic space. Starting from the family story, and through the testimony of different Cuban women of Basque descent, we have sought to reflect on gender, territory and memory.
