HOLD ON & SEDIMENT

13min, 16mm, BN, 2022

An empty house. A journey through the corners of a space occupied by three generations of women.

The author examines the relationship between the steel industry and the women who coexisted in it. As well as the footprint that the industrialization processes left in the domestic sphere. The film is presented as a sort of archaeological investigation of workers' housing, where empty rooms or inert objects are the only elements that make up the image.

The trace of an ideology of domesticity emerges linked to the figure of the Angel in the House - whose origin dates back to the end of the 19th century - and collides with the new generations' mentality. The film opens a space for the depatriarchalization of memory by questioning forms of patriarchal domination as firmly rooted as the family institution or the idea of home.
